Korea's only island province is just 1 hour distance by air from Seoul, but it takes the traveler to a different World. Its volcanic origin gives a distinctive tint and texture to the landscape:porous boulders of black basalt fence fields, wall houses and ground to poedery sand-strew beached; a cloudcapped volcano dead a million years, is visible at any inland glance.

 Mt. Halla, the highest mountain in south Korea, hosts climatic zones ranging from the semitropical to the Alpine, each zone with its peculiar or unique flora. An unpolluted paradise, Jejudo offers such striking scenic splendors as fantastic valleys traversed by rushing streams and plunging water-falls, grotesque lava formations,mysterious caves, clean sandy bathing beaches, and all-weather sport

including hunting,fishing,golf and mountain climbing.

Thus the islands is a popular honeymoon destination.The island is traditionally celebrated for having an abundance of rocks,wind and for lack of thieves,beggars and house gates.

The nothern stretch of Korea's east coast is rugged and mountainous, with breathtaking scenery.

Skiing and other winter sports help make the area a year-round resort,but the most popular recreations are swimming in summer and mountain climbing in fall.

 The beachs are perhaps the finest in Korea, gently shelving into swallow water and mild currents. The principal inland resort area, Soraksan National Park, which boasts

several Western-style lodges and hotels. There is also a beach-side tourist hotel outside the port of Kangnung. The particularly scenic areas along the entire coastline are dotted with ancient pavilions once used for moon-viewing and wine-sipping excursions by poet-scholars of past ages.
